MY MATTHEW 11:12 TESTIMONY

Updated: Apr 22

Reflection: Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. ~ (Ephesians 6:11-12)

Some years back, I had a big challenge. I wept and wept, but my tears brought me nothing. The Holy Spirit then gave me a verse in my sleep one night to let me know that I was not serious at all about getting the matter resolved. He didn’t quote the verse - He just simply said "Matthew 11:12". I was not good at memorizing Bible verses at the time, so I had to dash to my Bible when I woke up. "I see," I said, when I read the verse. Then I did the needful. I got my victory the very next day, and have continually lived a victorious life in Christ since then.

People and certain versions of the Bible give different interpretations to the text in Matthew 11:12, but the Holy Spirit gives understanding. It means: PRESSING TO FINISH YOUR RACE: Pressing to resist temptation, pressing to fulfill God’s purpose for your life, pressing to obtain your blessings (spiritual and temporal) as if you would grab them violently. In other words: Doing so with fervent prayers, worship, praise, much zeal, and serious commitment.

If you have a friend, family member, associate, business partner, boss, or colleague in Christ who communicates with the Lord very well, you are indeed blessed. You are blessed, not because you are waiting on them to pray for you, but because you have a good role model. Get close to them. Begin to watch, and learn from them. There is nothing wrong with learning from others to your own advantage. As you do that, you will become a prayer warrior as well in no time.

If you want to survive the viciously wicked, dangerous, and perverted world that we now live in, you need to pray without ceasing. A quick five or ten-minute prayer will not do much for you - and this is the truth. Surely, there must be so much going on in your life for you to just breeze in and out of the Lord’s presence in five or ten minutes.

Praying without ceasing is often misinterpreted as repeating the same request over and over, saying lengthy prayers, or reciting prayer lines. Wrong (see Matthew 6:7-8)! You want to spend time giving thanks, discussing all things with your Father, seeking for guidance, giving petitions, interceding for others and the Body of Christ. Remember also, to give the Lord quality Praise and Worship as you spend time with Him. Then testify of what He is doing in your life, as things will certainly begin to take a new turn.

Shalom, good people!
