He that covers his sins shall not prosper; but whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy (Proverbs 28:13).
Every sin committed in the past will arise in future and sting the offender unless it has been washed away by the Blood of Jesus. No matter how long ago the sin was committed, it will come back and haunt the offender like a shadow. Likewise, every sin we lock up in a box and do not get rid of, is deserving of God's judgment.
There is nothing that can permanently make sins and their consequences disappear - not our money, fame, beauty, charming personality, or good deeds, but the Blood of Jesus. His Blood cleanses all manner of sin. The Blood of Jesus is the power that can deal with the strength of a sin and its consequences, no matter how shameful, grievous, and abominable it is. "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool," saith the Lord (Isaiah 1.18). This is what the Lord, Jesus Christ will do to a life that is completely surrendered to Him.
Completely surrendering to Jesus also means forsaking what it is we did wrong, and continually working out our salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12). Make Jesus Christ your Personal Lord and Saviour today, and be free.
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon (Isaiah 55:7).
